Off the Eastern End of the Strand is possibly London's most prestigious Georgian building complex - Somerset House.

Somerset House is a series of official buildings around a large square. In the central courtyard are fountains - a delight on hot Summer days!

In the South Wing is a great cafe with superb terraced views over the Thames.

The Courtauld Gallery in the North Wing is also worth a visit.

For obvious reasons it has frequently been used as the setting of films & TV series set in Georgian London.
