Getting ready for the Marathon.

The charity runners pushing colleagues came first.

The Elite runners

Then came 30,000 serious runners......

..... and some not so serious.

Eleanor running at the 30Kms point, still looking fresh with a big smile for us.

However even bigger smiles of relief & success at the end. Eleanor is with a running friend, Lou. In this run, Eleanor also achieved a Personal Best timing for a Marathon.

Of course we had some great meals in Paris. After all we had to build up our stamina as Marathon spectators. We revisited the Chartier dining hall which I would recommend for good value meals with a great atmosphere and the waiters still write the bill on your tablecloth.

However the best meals we had were at the L'Etoile Verte, which is recommended in The Lonely Planet guidebook. It was also round the corner from our hotel, so it fitted the bill nicely.

It is certainly quick getting from London to Paris via Eurostar. Pity that it had to break down on the return journey. Being stuck for 80 mins in Ashstead station was tedious.

The following Sunday after the Paris Marathon was the London Marathon and of course Eleanor had to run that as well! Some people just don't know when to stop.

This time Eleanor was in the Guinness World Record group running as Supergirl - hence the costume.

Not only did Eleanor complete the London Marathon, raising a significant sum for Hearing Concern, but she also beat the previous record for a Supergirl marathon.

No wonder the smiles were even wider.

Well done Eleanor!!
